GrantRescue
Mission Statement
The core mission of GrantRescue is to increase the award success rates and minimize resubmissions for NIH grant applications and other scientific, translational and biomedical research grant applications of client researchers and their institutions, by optimizing grantsmanship--a challenging fusion of skill, persuasion and sophistication.
We also welcome projects involving grant applications directed to other public and private funding agencies, for funding of biomedical research and other scientific and non-scientific research, initiatives and resources. For help with publications rather than grant applications, please see WinningSubmissions.
If your goal is to get funded sooner and minimize review cycles through master grantsmanship, our service is for you.
GrantRescue Services
We provide expert grant consulting, grant editing, and grant writing service for NIH grant, biomedical research grant and other scientific grant applications. Your new proposal or resubmission will be presented in an authoritative, exceptionally reviewer-friendly style, effectively anticipating reviewer concerns and responding to any prior reviewer critique.
We work closely with you to provide the services you need, when you need them.
Our service is appropriate for, and we are experienced with:
- Early-stage investigators or highly experienced individual investigators
- Multisite, multicomponent, collaborative and Center projects
- Basic science, translational, clinical and applied research projects
- Career development grants, postdoctoral grants, international grants
- Facility and shared equipment grants
- Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grants
Our services and specialties include:
- Strategic guidance, grant writing and grant editing for the most effective construction of your proposal and its Research Plan
- Substantive editing of your material, emphasizing the clarity, impact, and validation of the story line
- Writing those components needed, including critical summaries, overviews, introductions, transitions and other content
- Effective writing of needed components of your Research Plan
- Informed reading and analysis of your Summary Statement or other study section review and reviewer critique of previous submissions to guide your reviewer responses, revisions and resubmission strategy
- Insightful review of Requests for Applications (RFA) and Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOA) to guide development of your proposal
- Projects involving integrative, systems-level and translational subjects, or interacting collaborative groups, are special strengths
Our Approach
...is simply to work closely with you, the client, to help organize proposal presentation toward the reviewer's point of view, and to apply uncompromising quality standards. The primary focus of GrantRescue is to develop the most compelling articulation of Specific Aims, significance of your proposed research, and the story line.
Strategic components
- An authoritative, critical writing and presentation style that is highly empathetic to the reader
- We help ensure that key points and experimental plans are thoroughly validated and justified
- Positive and constructive input, that helps you focus on the project's strengths, and helps achieve and fully exploit the synergies within its components
- Providing the amount of consultation, writing and editing you need, when you need it
Value Proposition
For a broad band of applicants, the difference between fundable and nonfundable scores, or between a
decent initial score and triage, is effective grantsmanship. By optimizing grantsmanship, our service aims to maximize
productivity and returns on institutional or private investment, maximizing award rates and minimizing review cycles and grant resubmissions needed. The cost of this service typically represents only a minuscule fraction of the funding sought--translating into a large leveraging of client investment.
Consider:
- Eliminating even a single review cycle substantially increases an investigator's research
productivity--not only by accelerating revenue capture, but also by avoiding unforeseen impediments (staff changes, new
findings by competitors, changes in study sections, institutional crises).
- We have won and helped our clients win at least 8 NIH and other Federal research grants on first submission, and have helped rescue multiple client NIH grants after prior triage (unscored by study section), awarded on resubmission
- Even if your proposal requires resubmission, the "first impression" it makes on reviewers during its
initial review has a dramatic bearing on their interest, on the score received (and whether a score is assigned at all)--
and critically, their enthusiasm for seeing a second submission
- As competition for the limited funding pool for biomedical research continues to intensify, the competitive edge you
gain as a GrantRescue client will return great value.
